2007...Years Best
Some of my favorites of 2007...
Movies
Brick

I was flying back from Boston early this summer and had this DVD with me based on Jack's recommendation. I had no idea what to expect, but was instantly hypnotized by this movie. If you are a fan of film noir, you'll probably like this one. It's a detective story...so odd, so interesting, very clever and very satisfying. I ripped it to my hard drive, and find myself watching it over and over when work is slow.
The Bourne Ultimatum

I had to include this one. I am a big fan of the Bourne Trilogy, but I can honestly say this one is the best. It absolutely wears me out. The chase/fight scene in Tangier with the towel and book is unbelievable...one of my favorite parts is the look on Julia Stiles face when it is over. This is another one that I watch regularly since it has come to DVD.
The Station Agent

This one came as a surprise. It was recommended to me on my Netflix, so I took a chance. Its a story about the friendship that develops between three people coming from completely different walks of life. A very well written, simple, charming story.
Restaurant

I'm going to have to stick with Mexican once again this year. I was introduced to this restaurant in August of this year. Always looking for new Mexican food, I was blown away by this one. Its not your typical greasy Tex-Mex, trough dining Mexican food experience. This one is actually Southwest Mexican food. For aps I've had their Nachos, Jalapeno Shooters, and Calamari. For dinner I've tried their Stuffed Peppers, Rojo Chicken, Meatloaf, and Enchiladas. All were amazing. My family still talks about the Calamari. They also make one hell of a Silver Coin Margarita. The owner is a good friend of mine. If you meet him, ask him why he recommends ice cream after the Shooters. Its located in El Pedregal at the Boulders Resort in North Scottsdale...South East Corner of Scottsdale Rd and Carefree Hwy. www.spotteddonkeycantina.com
Music
Martin Sexton

Seeds
When God was handing out talent, he gave Martin an overdose. Yes, Martin wins again. While I don't think this is Martin's best album, it has lived in my CD player since last summer. It's interesting...correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this is the first CD he has relaesed since getting married. You can hear it in his voice...more upbeat, more joy in his music. I mean, come on, how can you not listen to the song "Happy" and not smile.
Maroon 5

It Won't Be Soon Before Long
I hesitated putting this one on here. I think Adam Levine is an absolute tool bag, but this really is a great CD. I listened to it more than any other CD this year. Every song is good...seriously
Television
LOST

This show has taken over. I don't even really watch TV, but got hooked into this one when I was laid up post-surgery. Season 1 was great, Season 2 was even better, but Season 3 is just completely out of control fantastic. I liked this one so much that I started a LOST group on Sunday nights and made addicts out of all my friends. I cannot wait until Season 4 begins, January 31
Looking Ahead:
Movie:
Cloverfield: Comes out January 18th, produced by JJ Abrams (of LOST)...could be great...could be lame
Music:
Coldplay's new album is due out this Spring. Really looking forward to this one...and the tour that will follow.
TV:
LOST Season 4...Starts January 31st...come on...there is no need to say anything else.
Restaurant:
Nothing specific that I know of, however, with the coming Light Rail system into downtown Phoenix, I think we could see some cool places pop up following the likes of Fate, Cibo, LUX, Bianco, and Roosevelt.
